Hi.

The Bald Eagle: Mr. Shelton explores how to combine prayer and work.

“Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.”

This aphorism has been variously attributed, but whoever said it first, it is a helpful general rule. But if you are like me, I often get these turned around: I pray as though it depended on me and work as though it depended on God. In other words, I work really hard to conjure the results I want through my pseudo-prayer and then lazily sit by and do nothing and blame God when nothing happens.

Maybe a better maxim might be “Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on God.” Pray to God; work with God.
