White Girl Problems

White Girl Problems

As a pale female, who while in the sun is more worried about skin cancer than tan lines, an outdoor campus can be a little intimidating.  Sunscreen is a necessity and shade is a blessing from God. I realize that this may seem quite over the top, but sunburns can lead to disastrous things: wrinkles, skin cancer or looking like Bob the tomato for your yearbook picture. This is a serious issue for the fair skinned people whose descendants came from Europe where it snows… and as a lifelong Texan I have seen snow in Boerne… TWICE!!!  I have sweaters by the dozen hidden in the back of my closet begging to get out, but who wants to wear a sweater when its 90 degrees outside and the sun is threatening to melt you in January.  Now most days the sunshine is pleasant and it is very nice to get fresh air every passing period, but the days when it is not nice… you could be soaked from head to toe, sweating while wearing your blazer, blown away by the wind or in fear of a small flame burning down the entire campus made out of wood. All in all an outdoor campus is nice and the sunburn goes away after awhile, but when Texas decides to be bipolar and change the weather after 30 minutes it can be annoying…
